Web Editors
There are thousands of different web editors available for you to use on your own computer to create your web pages. The following is a small selection (including some that are free downloads) and most of these are available for both Windows and Mac (and in some cases Linux as well).
- Adobe Dreamweaver - possibly the best WYSIWYG editor that you can buy to run on Windows or Mac. Adobe also offer other web editors that are somewhat cheaper such as Homesite and GoLive.
- Expression Web is the one Microsoft program that can create web pages properly.
- RapidPHP incorporates PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript editors in one product for a very low price.
- AceHTML Pro is yet another HTML editor you can purchase.
- HTMLkit is one of the best free HTML editors available
- CSE HTML Validator is my favourite web editor and comes in free and paid versions
- Aptana Studio runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux and provides advanced features to make JavaScript programming easier
- Hotdog Pro yet another good windows HTML editor you can buy
- UltraEdit is sold as a text editor rather than HTML editor but contains many features that make it ideal for editing HTML as well
- Namo Web Design Suite is an all in one web development product
- First Page is a free editor that integrates into Internet Explorer
- Kompozer based on NVU is just about the best free WYSIWYG editor available
- Coffee Cup HTML editor provides both a code editor and visual editor
- Amaya is the W3C’s own web editor/browser so you know it will follow the standards
- Selida is another free WYSIWYG web editor
