Intewrnet Explorer 4 and Netscape 4 introduced two different proprietary ways to embed fonts into a web page. They were incompatible with one another and the CSS 2.0 standard provided a third way to do it that no browser implemented. This was then removed from CSS 2.1 but is back as a proposal in CSS [...]
