If you have two files that contain similar data that you want to merge into one file then using jut one or two commands at a command prompt can do it for you regardless of which operating system you are using.

I would have thought that everyone would have upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows XP by now given that it is now several years since Microsoft dropped support for that old DOS antique. Not so as I still get the occasional question about that old operating system. Some of those are looking to make the move though as this recent question demonstrates.

Whichever version of Windows that you are using there is an option that allows you to hide specific files from being listed. While more experienced users may prefer to have their computer display all files including “hidden” files it is less confusing for those with less computer experience if the files designated as hidden actually are hidden. Here’s how to set the flag that indicates whether a file should be hidden or not.

One section of the site that I haven’t been giving as much attention as I perhaps ought to lately is the section covering the various operating systems. I have sections covering a number of popular operating systems.
