When you can’t connect to another computer on your local network or the internet then there are a number of possible causes. The first step is to work out where the problem is and to do that we need to use commands that will test the network connection and tell us a bit more about what is and isn’t happening.

Windows XP provides a Shared Documents folder which provides this access to some extent.
