If you hadn’t already subscribed to my newsletter before last weekend then you did not receive my latest newsletter by email and will have to wait several more weeks until I add it to the web site before you can read it. To avoid the wait next month, sign up for the newsletter now and be one of the first to read it rather than one of the last.

January Newsletter

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

My January newsletter dealing with backups is now available to be read on the site. This was of course sent to those on the mailing list about four weeks ago. The February newsletter should be sent to those on the mailing list within the next few days while those not on the mailing list will have to wait until next month to be able to read it. Why not sign up to my mailing list now and receive monthly emails that not only contain what I hope you will find is an interesting article but which also contains a list of all the pages added to the site during the prior month so as to ensure that you don’t iss seeing anything that I write that interests you.

“Behind the Scenes”

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

I named the newsletter for my site “Behind the Scenes” because when I first introduced it back in September 2001 it was the only thing related to the web site which would give people the opportunity to go behind the scenes and read comments that I made regarding what my plans for the web site are and anything else regarding what I am doing. The main site itself was and still is basically a collection of tutorials, reference materials, and answers to questions about computers. Now of course you also have this blog where you also get a less formal approach to what I am writing and more of an opportunity to interact.

My newsletter gets sent out regularly on the 22nd of each month to everyone who has subscribed to it. Everyone else is able to read the newsletter on the web site itself eventually although exactly when depends on how long afterwards that I remember to add it to the site. For example I just decided to add the December newsletter so that it can be read on the site and discovered that the November newsletter hadn’t been added yet either. This irregularity of adding the newsletters to the site of course gives people a better reason for signing up to receive it by email but I assure you that the varying delays are not deliberate on my part.

Buyer Beware

You have probably heard that warning before but it just doesn’t seem stong enouugh for what I am about to tell you.

One scam that I have recently become aware of is that of selling stolen web sites. What the thief does in these cases is to find some popular web site with lots of good content. They then proceed to steal a copy of all of that content and create their own web site using a different container (so that the site looks different) along with all of the stolen content. They also set up advertising on the site so as to earn an income from those who visit the site.

Happy 7th Birthday felgall.com

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

What was to become the felgall.com web site first went live on the 20th October 2000. Since then I have added well over 1500 pages to the site across a wide range of computer related topics. To celebrate the first anniversary of the site I started producing a monthly newsletter which has been sent out regularly every month since then as well as being published on the site a few weeks later.

To celebrate the seventh anniversary of the site I have just added this new felgall.net web site that provides another way of accessing the huge amount of information on the main site as well as giving me somewhere to place the short comments about things that don’t deserve a full web page.

Why not help celebrate the seventh anniversary of my site by signing up for my newsletter or grabbing an RSS feed to this blog.
