Three Column Template

Saturday, January 12th, 2008

Now that I am not so far behind with my ‘to do’ list of updates for the site, I am occasionally managing to find time to work on some new uploads of my own for the member’s Area. The latest offering is a basic three column design with a header and foote. Like most of the templates I am uploading the basic code for the layout is presented using a stylesheet to format the HTML and I leave it to you to add your choice of images (although tis one uses a simple coloured image to provide the background colour for the columns). This makes my templates somewhat different from the typical ones you find on offer where the images are usable but the HTML is rubbish.

If this isn’t the template you are looking for and none of the others on offer from the member’s Area is close to what you want either then all you need to do to get me to create your template for you is to contact me with the details of how you want your template to look and I will create it for you provided that you let me offer a version of the template in the Member’s Area as well.

Another Free Addition to the member’s Area

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

The latest addition to the member’s area is absolutely huge. The zip file is almost 70Mb in size and contains over 150 “Made for Adsense” web sites each of which contains several pages. Also included are tools to allow you to quickly and easily change all the adsense references to your account as well as eBooks on Pay per Click and Search Engine Optimisation.

The only reason I put it in the free area for personal use only rather than the Gold area with reseller rights is that the HTML used in creating all those hundreds upon hundreds of pages looks like it ought to have been left behind when Noah got on his Ark it is that antiquated. I certainly recommend completely reworking the HTML properly if you are going to use this product which makes it a lot less useful than it would otherwise be.

In the seventh tutorial on using NVU we finally look at what we need to do to start creating web pages based on the template that we have customised in the prior tutorials.

Creating Pages from your Template

Updating a Template

Once you have the template you found loaded into NVU, the first thing you need to do is to modify it so as to create the actual template that you want to use as the basis for the web pages for your site. Hopefully the actual layout of the page will be what you want to use (otherwise why did you choose that template) but obviously the text, navigation links and images will need to be changed to match your specific requirements. In this fourth NVU tutorial we look at how to change the text and navigation links.

Selecting and Loading a Template

Sunday, October 7th, 2007

The easiest way for a newbie webmaster to create web pages in NVU is if they first find a page template to use as a starting point. Obviously they will not find one that has all of their content filled in (not even the basic content that they want in all their pages) but as long as the template provides the basic page layout then updating that code to insert first the information that they want in all their pages so as to create their own unique template, and finally to use their template as a basis for all their pages will be a much easier task than starting from scratch.

In the third tutorial on creating a web site using NVU I discuss how to select a suitable template and how to load that template into NVU ready to start updating it to create the “real” template for the web site. the sample template in the examples plus several more that I have created are available from the Silver section of the Member’s Area.
